Jacquie was known at work as a very conservative human being who had a great attendance record. She in no way went to any of the happy hours right after work and it was regarded through the department that she was a very religious person who typically spoke about the risks of alcohol abuse and alcoholism in our country.
Try to imagine the shock inside the office when one Monday AM Jacquie did not show up for work and not a soul had heard from her. In fact, it wasn't until around 11:45 AM that the human resources department received a phone call regarding Jacquie from the city jail.
Apparently, Jacquie went out drinking together with several of her college friends Saturday night and at some point about 4:00 Sunday morning, Jacquie was arrested for "driving under the influence." Because her blood alcohol concentration (BAC) was quite high, she had to spend one day in the county jail.
When Jacquie came to work on Tuesday morning, she instantly shared with her superior what had taken place and she asked if she could go and talk to the Human Resources director about her DUI arrest. The Human Resources manager told Jacquie that she should make an appointment with someone in the fine company employee's assistance program to discuss any potential drinking difficulty that she might have. The Human Resources manager also articulated that she needs to discuss her wish to hire a "driving while intoxicated" attorney to represent her concerning her DWI case.
Furthermore, the Human Resources manager told Jacquie that it was positive that she really wanted to employ a "driving while intoxicated" attorney simply because of the complexities and serious implications that are affiliated with a DUI conviction. Just before finishing their discussion, the Human Resources director informed Jacquie that it was very encouraging that she doesn't seem to have any long term alcohol effects. The Human Resources manager claimed that this is significant because according to alcoholism statistics and facts, the long term effects of alcohol not only weaken an individual's health, but that they can also devastate most, if not all meaningful relationships the drinker may have.
Jacquie expressed her thanks to the Human Resources director for his uplifting and encouraging thoughts and then took the elevator to the company employee's assistance program to discuss her "drunk driving" arrest, her involvement in abusive and careless drinking drinking over the weekend, and her wish to retain a DWI attorney to represent her "drunk driving" case. After hearing Jacquie's "story", the nurse that was part of the company employee's assistance program described Jacquie's immediate "action plan" that she needed to address and follow.
First, she would be required to take a DUI class to learn more DUI Facts and information. Second, she would also be required to take an alcohol abuse class to address her possible problem drinking. And finally, it would be an especially pragmatic thing to do if she were to talk to a DUI Lawyer about her "driving while intoxicated" arrest.
